DR. LORI VICK
PRESIDENT
Dr. Lori Vick is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at USC and the President of IASCNAPA. Her research involves improving health outcomes among people with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Dr. Vick’s biology, education, and nursing background have influenced her research to use person-centered strategies to support health behaviors.
DR. CORETTA JENERETTE
TREASURER
Dr. Coretta Jenerette is the Senior Health Equity Scholar and Thelma Shobe Endowed Chair at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Nursing. She earned a Ph.D. and MSN from the University of South Carolina and BSN from Clemson University. Her research focuses on improving health outcomes in sickle cell.

CHAIRMAN OF BOARD
Janice Rambow Beatty, BSN is the sickle cell/thalassemia nurse specialist at the Ann and Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She has been in this position at Lurie Children’s (formerly Children’s Memorial Hospital) for 25 years working with the sickle cell and thalassemia patients and their families in all aspects of their disease processes. Janice is sickle cell/thalassemia researcher, educator, and speaker.

Dr. Dora Clayton-Jones is an Associate Professor and community engaged scholar at Marquette University in the College of Nursing. She engages the community and recipients of interventions in developing, implementing, and evaluating research that supports self-management for adolescents and young adults living with sickle cell disease.
DR. CHERYL BREWER

Dr. Cheryl Brewer is a Nurse Scientist and Executive Nursing Consultant. She is the immediate past Associate Vice President of Nursing – Duke Health Integrated Practice. She also serves as Clinical Adjunct Faculty at Duke University School of Nursing. Dr. Brewer’s research includes strategies to decrease stigma in SCD. She has co-authored several publications and received numerous awards including Distinguished Alumna at Duke University School of Nursing & NC Central University Nursing, also UNC Chapel Hill Outstanding Nursing Alumna.
PAT CORLEY

In 1979, Ms. Corley became the Nurse Coordinator for one of the ten National Institutes of Health Sickle Cell Centers, specifically at the LAC+USC for the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Center for over three decades. Ms. Corley is the recipient of the Elliott Vichinsky Health Care Provider Award and partners with Cayenne Wellness Center and Axis Advocacy to improve the plight of persons living with sickle cell disease.
YVONNE CARROLL

Yvonne M. Carroll, RN, JD, Director of Patient Services, Hematology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her area of focus is sickle cell disease advocacy, education, and research. She received her BSN from the University of Tennessee and Law degree from the University of Cincinnati. She is a US Navy veteran.

Dr. Cheedy Jaja, PHD, MPH, MSN, PMHNP-BC, APRN, FAAN is an Associate Professor at the University of South Florida. His interest in social justice, health disparities, and improving health outcomes in historically marginalized and vulnerable populations such as those with sickle cell disease (SCD) drives his research, clinical, and advocacy initiatives.
DR. Stephanie Ibemere

Stephanie O. Ibemere, PhD, RN is an assistant professor in the Duke School of Nursing. Her research focuses on improving provider capacity and the clinical model for SCD management in low to middle income settings in sub-Saharan Africa and the United States through tool adaptation, implementation science, and community-engaged research.
DR. Dominique bulgin

Dr. Dominique Bulgin is an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Nursing. Her research is focused on promoting health equity by improving health outcomes in Black communities living with chronic illnesses, primarily sickle cell disease, through disease self-management and reducing the influence of health-related stigma.

Dr. Keesha Powell-Roach is an Assistant Professor at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, holding appointments in the Colleges of Nursing and Medicine. Her research unravels the complexities of acute and chronic pain, organ system impacts, and overall quality of life in individuals living with sickle cell disease. Her laboratory investigates the interaction between omics and biopsychosocial factors contributing to pain phenotypes in adults.
